ABOUT

You can reclaim the gift of who you truly are. I can show you how.
I’m an online psychotherapist, life coach and sex therapist working with individuals, couples and polycules/relationship constellations. Much of my work focuses on the needs of the BIPOC community, especially lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, two spirit, queer people, and their friends and allies, from Boomers to Zoomers and anyone navigating a major life transition.
I’m also a seeker, a globetrotter, a sensualist, an intuitive, a spiritualist, a mother, a grandmother and the queer ex-wife of a Baptist minister. As you can see, my journey to myself has been quite the wild ride. And I’m still hanging on for dear life!
Technically, it all started in the South Bronx, New York City, where I was born and raised. But it wasn’t until an African naming ceremony during my second wedding that I was given the name Maudisa, meaning “she is a gift”.
Through the 80s and 90s, I raised two kids (having divorced their musician father) while earning my Masters of Social Work from Howard University, completing the Progressive Life Center’s NTU Psychotherapy program, and becoming a certified bodyworker and Reiki practitioner. By 2000, I had seen my kids off to college and was headed for my second divorce. It seemed like the right time for a new surname, so I chose Meroe, in honor of the Nubian royal capital known for its women warriors. (Yes, you could say I was making a statement.) Convinced that there had to be more to life, I was bound and determined to find it.
In 2002, I enrolled in a month-long work-study program at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur. My life would never be the same. Through an ecstatic dance workshop and an equally ecstatic massage session, I connected with deeper parts of my soul and discovered a level of physical freedom I had never known. But it was a cathartic Shamanic experience that finally released all the burdens I’d been carrying. When my screams and tears subsided, the Shaman declared, “You can go and play now.”
I’ve been playing ever since.

I spent the next 8 years exploring the world as well as myself, spending time in Jamaica, London and eventually West Africa. During those years in London, I traveled back and forth to Osho’s Humaniversity in the Netherlands to study sexuality. Here, at last, I found freedom from shame and the agency to live authentically. I embarked on a spiritual path of pleasure, which led me to the work I do now in my workshops and retreats.
Today, my work straddles many realms: spiritual, sensual, psychological, psychedelic and beyond. It is a true reflection of my training in psychotherapy, psychedelic integration, Tantra, sexuality and bodywork as well as my own personal journey from fear and shame to joy and gratitude, from repression to liberation. I bring all of it to the table to help clients strip away the veils of past traumas and conditioning, and create a more authentic, connected, satisfied life. The kind of life we were all born to live.
